About Youth Development

The MLTC Sport and Youth program promotes healthy lifestyles and allows the youth the opportunity to enhance their physical, social, mental, and emotional abilities through participation in Sports and Recreation events.

MLTC partners with numerous organizations such as; FSIN Sports, Culture and Recreation Board, Sask. Sports, Sport Governing Bodies and Sask. Lotteries, to plan safe, fun and beneficial Sport and Recreation programs for the First Nations youth. A large part of the Sports & Youth Program is the coordination of the Saskatchewan First Nation Winter and Summer Games. Duties include, hosting identification camps, evaluating and selecting of the MLTC team. These games are seen as an opportunity to allow First Nations youth to participate in sports such as athletics, golf, hockey and broomball in an environment that is both supportive and as well as competitive. MLTC Sports and Youth Program support the delivery of community-based recreation and leisure programming for the First Nations by offering ideas for sport-related activities. It gives FN youth the opportunity to develop and grow as young adults. The Sports & Youth Program has delivered Sport Development clinics in the areas of; soccer, golf, badminton, hockey and softball. These clinics not only give our youth the skills to play, but also helps them in building relationships with other youth within MLTC.
