MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10.   The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy.  As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

 

  • Preference will be given to qualified First Nations applicants or other Indigenous applicants who self-declare as being a First Nations person or of other Indigenous ancestry;

 

MLTC is recruiting High School Students for summer employment to work within the ILABC Project. The ILABC Summer Students will be assisting the Conservation Team and the Land-Based Information Gathering and Sharing Team. The main responsibilities of the ILABC Summer Students are to gain knowledge of conservation practices and land-based activities and to gather teachings and information from the Conservation team and Land Based leaders to help with environmental conservation and land-based programming in their communities.

 

Qualifications:

  • MLTC First Nation Member.
  • High School student returning to school in the Fall of 2025 (Grades 10-12).
  • Enjoys the outdoors, have basic knowledge of land-based activities such as berry picking, hunting, fishing, or wants to learn about your community-based traditions.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Responsible, reliable, prompt, creative, organized.
  • Ability to speak Cree and/or Dene would be an asset.

  • Start Date – Tentative – July 2 -August 27, 2025
