MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10.   The primary purpose of MLTC is to serve those First Nations in their aspirations for cultural, economic and political autonomy.  As a private sector employer engaged primarily in promoting and serving the interests of the member First Nations, MLTC asserts its right to provide preferential treatment to First Nations people, giving them priority in decisions on employment matters such as hiring, and this can extend to measures such as opening competitions only to First Nations people.

Meadow Lake Tribal Council is seeking dynamic motivated individual to fill permanent, full-time position of Home Care Nurse for the Canoe Lake Cree First Nation (CLCFN).  Willing to fill position on a full-time or part-time basis.

 

The Home Care Nurse provides direct nursing care, under the direction and supervising of the Registered Nurse RN/RN AAP in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:

 

Minimum:

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing;
    • Must be registered or eligible for registration with:
      • Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
    • Registered, or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Minimum: one (1) year nursing experience
  • Maintain BLS certification yearly
  • Knowledge/awareness of the First Nation culture/language is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and to work with others.
  • The ability to speak/understand language(s) of the community is an asset
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Other relevant experience and certifications in Northern nursing and First Nations health care is an asset.

 

Other Remuneration costs:

  • $2500.00 Signing Bonus after completing 3 month probation
  • $2500.00 to $3000.00 Annual Retention Allowance at anniversary date of employment
  • $4000.00 Annual Northern Allowance
  • $500 to $1000 Annual Education Allowance
  • Annual Health Related Travel
  • All mandatory training paid by MLTC
