MLTC was created by nine First Nations located in north-west Saskatchewan who have constitutionally recognized aboriginal rights and Treaty Rights under Treaties #6, #8 and #10. The MLTC Health & Social Development Department is seeking dynamic, motivated individual to fill the full time, permanent position of Mental Health/Wellness Therapist. A range of comprehensive therapeutic counselling skills earned from significant experience with client centered, holistic therapies and treatment approaches; a specific understanding of the Medicine Wheel and/or the AFN Mental Wellness continuum framework is desired. The Mental Health/Wellness Therapists will work closely with the developing MLTC Wellness Team, the Community Wellness and CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Teams and Community Health Directors. Your considerable experience and primary role will support the needs for community members in crisis, at risk, or requiring generalist or specialist care as a Mental Health and Wellness Therapist.
DUTIES: (include but not limited to)
• Provide therapy to clients: individually, as couples, families, or in groups, if appropriate and as required.
• Develop and implement wellness plans based on clinical experience and knowledge of your client’s priorities and case plan needs.
• Network with other service providers and collaborate for case planning purposes
• Provide guidance and expert advice, as requested to management or other groups on mental health /wellness related topics, on related technical systems, or process-related topics.
• Documenting/Recording Information.
• Organizing, planning, and prioritizing Work.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/CHARACTERISTICS:
• Able to keep a positive/optimistic outlook.
• Must possess strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• High integrity, sensitive, kind.
• Able to speak the Cree and/or Dene language is a definite asset.
• Flexible and available on short notice.
• Able and willing to travel extensively and stay overnight or longer if needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:
• BISW or BSW with approx. 3-5 years of experience as a certified clinical counsellor.
Preferred:
• Master’s Degree in Mental Health and Wellness, Social Work, or Psychology with at least 5 years relevant experience.
• Experience in First Nations Health Services.
