Community Wellness Counselor


The Canoe Lake Cree First Nation is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Community Counselor at the Senator Jonas Lariviere Health Centre.


Job Summary:

The Canoe Lake Cree First Nation Community Counselor Program employs a Community Counselor to provide program services. Specific work responsibilities job description will depend on needs and priorities of the First Nation.


Community Counseling contributes to the vision of holistic health by supporting and serving the health and well-being of Canoe Lake Cree First Nation individuals, families and the Community as a whole.



  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, or other Human Services related field, and experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents and/or adults.

  • 1-2 years’ of Administrative experience required

  • Proficiency in Word and Excel

  • Must have strong work ethics

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

  • Maintaining Clear, Concise, Consistent Communications with coworkers, supervisors, and clients

  • Monthly reporting

  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and the Mental Health Services Regulations.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks as assigned

  • Ability to work independently without supervision

  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in timely manner

  • Excellent organizational skills
