Preferential Hiring Policy
This Policy is designed to support MLTC in hiring First Nation candidates when considering applicants for employment positions.
MLTC will give preferential treatment to qualified First Nation or other Indigenous candidate in its recruitment process in recognition of its purpose and the principles as outlined below:
For the purpose of this policy:
MLTC will carry out recruitment and hiring process having regard to the above stated purpose and principles.
This preferential hiring policy has been developed having regard to the provisions of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code1, the Canadian Human Rights Act and Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy2, and the Employment Equity Act.3
Recruitment Advertising:
The postings and advertisements for positions will indicate that preference will be given to qualified First Nation or other Indigenous candidates.
For certain culturally sensitive positions postings and advertisements will indicate the competition is open only to qualified First Nations applicants who self-declare their membership in or their ties to a member First Nation.
