Birch Narrows Dene Community School is seeking a dedicated, effective and dynamic Practical Applied Arts (PAA) -Industrial Arts Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
The candidate will have high standards and expectations in academic achievement, especially in the areas of practical applied arts, literacy and numeracy by following the prescribed curriculum of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education.
The candidate will work under the direction of the School Principal. Must have a valid Saskatchewan Professional “A’ Teaching Certificate and a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check or requirements as approved.
The Teacher will also have excellent classroom management skills and the ability to utilize positive classroom/behavior management strategies. The candidate will accommodate and include students with special needs by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.
Skills/Education required for position:
- Bachelor of Education degree or higher from an accredited institution; Eligible for a Saskatchewan Professional “A” or Provisional Professional “A” teaching certificate.
- Follow the prescribed curriculum of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education;
- Be willing to include student’s family and community members in classroom activities;
- Have respect for and a working knowledge of Canada’s First Nations and be willing to implement First Nations Culture, Values and History into the curriculum;
- Have high standards and expectations for academic achievement, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy;
- Have excellent classroom management skills and ability in utilizing positive classroom and behavior management strategies;
- Accommodate and include special needs children by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.
- Must have knowledge of the Dene Culture and/or Land Based Education.
