MLTC is currently seeking a dynamic, motivated individual to fill a full-time permanent position of Community Wellness Director for the Health & Social Development Department. The Community Wellness Program will provide leadership and program support to Mental Health & Wellness Programs and the Meadow Lake First Nations. The Community Wellness Director will be dedicated to recruiting and supporting qualified staff to deliver effective program and service delivery in our Meadow Lake First Nations in areas of residential school healing, holistic addictions prevention and treatment, community wellness programming, crisis team development, mental health, and inter-personal violence awareness and prevention.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or Human Services field,
    • 5 years management and supervision experience,
    • 3 years recent northern experience.
  • Preferred:
    • Master’s degree preferred in Social Work or Human Services field
    • 5 years clinical experience in the mental health field or service work,
    • 3 years recent northern experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be registered with an accredited body
  • Candidate must have experience working with Indigenous clients
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree / Dene is a definite asset

 

Required Skills & Abilities 

  • Ability to define and implement strategic priorities, work plans, and develop reports as required.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to assess needs and implement effective programs.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and encourages growth amongst individuals, which enhances team performance.
  • Experienced in staff management and supervision.
  • Experienced in writing policy, reports, proposals, and creating presentations, as well as quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to match financial resources to program priorities and manage budgets.
  • Possesses organizational and time/resource management skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications ie (Microsoft Office:  Word, Outlook, PowerPoint presentation, Outlook – email).
  • Communicates effectively in person and in writing
  • Ensure positive and productive working relationships are maintained.
  •  Represent MLTC with professionalism, honesty and integrity at all times.
  • Advocacy and diplomacy skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively and possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as required occasionally.
